Mushrooms Growing Inside During Winter

Interesting website

I decided to try something different and bought a few mushroom kits.

Shitake
Enoki
Mitake (Hen of the Woods)
Portabella

So far so good.   Most like it cold, between 50 to 60F they get the corner room with the heat turned off.

Portabella likes it more like 70F so that goes to the "Hobby Room".   I had a pentagon shaped fish aquarium bought for $10 so that became the home for the Portabella kit from Steins.

There are 30 Portabella "pins" right now, now it is the "Fruit Body Development" stage.

This is Portabella

Maitake aka Hen of the Woods -- they go through 4 ot 5 "fruit body" stages before they take their final form.
Enoki -- Smallish Mushrooms, often added to Japanese dishes or soups

Shitake - Wasn't doing much but some started growing from the bottom so I flipped it over.

Portabella "pins" aka Primordia Formation, these grow fast, bigger everytime you look at them.
Here is a finished Portabella.   Great texture and taste, almost like eating a meat.
